Cotton Council International conducted the 'Cool with Cotton' event with leading designers – Payal Jain & Namrata Joshipura who showcased cotton as a fashionable and natural fabric.

This initiative is a part of the ongoing 'Cool with Cotton' campaign to generate awareness about the benefits of cotton and its uses. The event was organised to communicate the importance of cotton as a natural fabric in our lives and included a fashion show at which top Delhi models Lakshmi Rana & Sapna Kumar walked the ramp in the designer cotton outfits.

Cotton Council International through its 'Cool with Cotton' campaign highlights cotton as being a versatile, absorbent and a natural fabric.

“The purpose of the 'Cool with Cotton' campaign is to reacquaint people with cotton by creating awareness about the uses and benefits of cotton. We plan to take this campaign forward in the coming year with more exciting and educational events on the various benefits and uses of cotton.” said Mr. Ashish Dhir, Representative, South Asia, Cotton Council International.

Speaking at the 'cool with cotton' show, designer Payal Jain said, “Though cotton is perceived as a summer fabric, it is truly a fabric for all seasons. I prefer cotton since it can be easily blended with other fabrics and is truly versatile.”

“I am a cotton loyalist and extensively use the fabric for designing fashion ensembles suitable for day as well as evening wear” said designer Namrata Joshipura.

Payal Jain's outfits that were showcased today were elegant and contemporary dresses with embroidery. Her collection is a modern interpretation of fashion using traditional themes. Payal Jain's fresh and bravura collection is a timeless portrayal of the synthesis of old and new, traditional and modern, rustic and contemporary.

The outfits designed by Namrata Joshipura were a floral appliqué summer jacket and a soft cotton dress with sequined pleats. Her clothing easily translates across geographies and other artificial constructs such as age, race and point of view. The Joshipura line elegantly fuses modern silhouettes with rich detailing, resulting in contemporary clothing for a complex and confident woman.

Consumers across India will get to experience cotton's versatility, its benefits and fashionable uses as the campaign continues in 2009 with road shows and innovative educational events that will be held in the coming year.
