GDS (13 to 15 March 2009) will await trade visitors at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre with its familiar power-packed programme of accompanying events specifically geared to the sector. Especially in times as troubled as these international retailers will find well-researched background information on the latest trends and key market developments in the numerous seminars and workshops offered by the trade fair.

Trend displays inform, inspire and provide visitors with a rapid overview. Segment-specific fashion shows staging the latest shoe and bag collections for the 2009/10 Autumn/Winter season give visitors guidance for trends and thereby ordering confidence. After all, the most important reasons for buyers to attend GDS are gathering information on new trends and current collections.

Fashion Shows – TRENDS ONSTAGE
The latest looks for Autumn/Winter 2009/10 as well as moda pronta trends for the current season are presented by several daily fashion shows on the stage of the Showcenter in Hall 4, TRENDS ONSTAGE. Buyers find at GDS a versatile range of brands spanning progressive and classic high fashion to mainstream labels and urban footwear fashion plus kids' shoe lines. Lily Cole will be the guest star appearing at the opening Upper Style Show on the first day of the trade fair to present the latest fashion trends by selected designers and premium high-fashion labels.

This British top model already worked for such luxury brands as Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Anna Sui. The Upper Style Show blends progressivity and craftsmanship with tradition. Luxurious collections, an exclusive setting and uncompromising quality are therefore in the limelight at this show presented daily at 11.00 am.

Under the heading “Winter Wonderland – Germany's Best” the latest collections of the shoe manufacturers associated with DSI (German Shoe Institute) are staged in a separate show at GDS. This show takes place every day at 1.30 pm and presents the best German women's, men's and children's shoe manufacturers have to offer for the colder days of the year. Friday, 13 March, will see a one-off staging of the show at 5.30 pm followed by a get-together by invitation of DSI and GDS.

The GDS Trend Show provides a fashion synopsis featuring German and international fashion collections of renowned quality brands: these producers' lines are aspirational, cosmopolitan and excellently finished. The show takes place at 12 noon every day. Classics such as urban fashion, popular lifestyle and fashion brands are centre stage at the Urban Fashion & Kids Show. Here every day at 3.30 pm “in“ styles by genuine trendsetters, legendary brands and streetwear icons as well as up-and-coming sporty collections are in the limelight.

Information Programme – Trends and Important Market Developments The fashion editor of TextilWirtschaft magazine will bring the latest fashion trends from the international metropolises and report on the initial trends identified in apparel orders – plus which shoes or bags will make that look complete. A thorough introduction to the trends for Autumn/Winter 2009/10 comes care of editor Gudrun Allstädt at the Orderinfo of TextilWirtschaft.
