In his keynote address to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI, said "It is of utmost importance to make the traditional leather and footwear clusters competent in design & technology and give the product adequate exposure in the domestic and international market."
In order to ensure better sustainability and economic growth of the cluster, it is imperative to support the sector through 360 degrees interventions.
For this purpose 'Centralized Resource Center' has also been established in Jodhpur at 48(A), Saraswati Kunj, Pratap Nagar, Opposite Mahila P.G. Mahavidryalaya, Jodhpur. The CRC will provide updated information regarding product design, technology, trend, fashion, market intelligence and management of activities and facilitating the quality productivity through the basic tooling and machineries.
Around 2 - 3 hundred artisans from Soila, Phalodi, Pratap Nagar, Lohawat, Mathania, Bilara (Tehsil), Pipar, Banar, Luni, Tivari, Pachpadra, Mando, Khejarla, Radsi, Boroda clusters in Jodhpur district were present on this occasion.
FDDI has been continuously providing training to the different clusters of artisans at Rajasthan, Karnataka & Punjab for skill upgradation, design development and marketing linkages. It has meticulously developed training materials, tools and handouts for the technology and upliftment of the cluster.
