Damas, the world renowned jeweller unveils glittering and attractive promotional offers for Akshaya Tritiya, the Indian Hindu festival celebrated by Tamils in South India.

The annual festival which falls on April 27th this year is considered to be a highly auspicious occasion rep-resenting eternal prosperity and success for any new beginnings made and for valuables bought on that day. As gold is considered the ultimate symbol of prosperity, gold buying forms the central feature of this popular festival. Damas' grand Akshaya Tritiya promotion will run from April 14th – 30th 2009, only at Damas 22k boutiques and presents a wonderful opportunity to select from a vast array of jewels.

Damas' especially created 22k white and yellow gold jewellery set for Akshaya Tritiya includes a traditional styled and intricately designed, hand crafted collection composed of three pieces – necklace and drop earrings (price subject to change as per prevailing gold rates.) The striking two-strand necklace has a sun-like disc pendant from which fall multiple tassels and is highlighted by minute enamel work.

Its spectacular diamond set blends 18k gold studded with approximately 1.04cts of round brilliant diamonds in a design inspired by the flower Rangoli – an auspicious Indian symbol representing the welcoming of good luck or the wealth goddess Lakshmi and is offered in a set of three jewels, a pendant/chain and earrings, sold at fixed rates. The stylised peacock design is truly riveting in essence.

Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director Damas Jewellery, said: “Dubai is a city that is today noted for its multi-cultural environment and Damas has always believed in catering to the populace of the city and the region. Indians form a large percentage of our buyers and as the world's largest consumers of gold jewellery we are happy to present specially created collections having a rich ethnic flavour, on the auspicious occasion of the Akshaya Tritiya festival, backed by Damas' well known dedication to craftsmanship and excellence in quality. We are also unveiling several promotional offers which I'm positive Damas' regular patrons will wel-come.”

Celebrated since ancient times, Akshaya Tritiya is a day when, according to Indian astrologers, both the sun and the moon are in exaltation and are at the peak of their brightness, an event which is believed to happen only once a year.

The word Akshaya means imperishable or eternal, signifying something which never diminishes. Initiations made or valuables bought on that day are considered to bring good fortune, luck and success. On this day, thousands of Indians celebrate weddings, start new business ventures and even plan long journeys.

Avail Damas' glittering Akshaya Tritiya promotional offers now available at all Damas 22k boutiques in UAE.
