Designing Shoes - 5 day course

We all love shoes - but where do all those fabulous styles come from?

This introductory course takes you through the fascinating history of footwear from the bejewelled pumps of Elizabeth I to the bejewelled pumps of Jimmy Choo.

It will look at how shoes are made and you will earn how to design and illustrate your own ideas. The course ends with a practical design exercise following the stages taken by professional designers to produce a range of shoes. This will include illustrations and 3D mock-ups.

Course tutor is Chris Hill who has been designing shoes for over twenty years. She has worked in the fashion footwear business in Europe, India and the Far East and is a visiting lecturer for the University of the Arts- St Martins and the London College of Fashion. Chris was the first female lecturer at the world famous Cordwainers College in the early '80s. Her most famous students were Jimmy Choo, Emma Hope and Patrick Cox.

She was Head of Footwear for the UK retailer Hobbs and is now freelancing as Chris Hill Footwear offering Trend Prediction, Product Development and Training.

Commencing Monday 6th July (10am-4pm)
