The Cato Corporation announced it will change its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange from "CTR" to "CATO," effective at the start of trading on October 16, 2009. The change of the ticker symbol is a seamless process managed by the New York Stock Exchange such that trading of the stock is unaffected.

"The Cato name has represented quality and value in the retail industry for over 60 years. Our merchandise carries the Cato label and changing our ticker symbol to CATO further strengthens our brand," commented John Cato, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "The new symbol also helps shareholders better identify our stock and our company."

The Cato Corporation is a leading specialty retailer of value-priced fashion apparel and accessories operating two divisions, "Cato" and "It's Fashion" with 1,290 stores in 31 states. The Company's Cato division offers exclusive merchandise with fashion and quality comparable to mall specialty stores at low prices every day.
