Igedo Company discontinues BODYLOOK

Despite the successful re-launch last July Igedo Company will discontinue BODYLOOK. This was decided by the shareholders and management at a shareholders' meeting this Monday. The decision was taken following intense exploratory discussions with the sector.
Explaining the decision Igedo CEO Philipp Kronen said: “The new concept of BODYLOOK convinced large parts of the industry in July. The BODYLOOK Team has done an excellent job here. In many conversations with the sector, however, we did not manage to reach agreement on the future path of BODYLOOK as a leading national trade fair. As organiser we have done everything in our power. But at the end of the day a trade fair can only be successful if it presents retailers the most comprehensive cross-section of ranges possible. Industry, retail and Igedo Company were all in the same boat all of that time but ultimately the statement of BODYLOOK obviously failed to ensure sustainable relevance to the market.”
Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, adds: “Since BODYLOOK moved from Leipzig we have invested substantial funds in the development of this event with the aim of responding to the sector's requests. Ultimately, the market and its key players were not fully committed to BODYLOOK, the commitment we would have needed to continue planning. Without this commitment both the commercial and the strategic risks could no longer be justified.”
August 2002 saw BODYLOOK celebrate its premiere in Leipzig as THE national sectoral forum for bodwear, dessous and hosiery. Since February 2006 is has been organised by Igedo Company and moved to Düsseldorf in July 2006.
