Columbia Sportswear Company a leading innovator in the global outdoor apparel and footwear industries, announced that it plans to open its newest Columbia branded store on Thursday, April 8 in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood.

Located at 3014 Hennepin Avenue South, the new 11,000 square-foot store will feature Columbia's innovative and high-performance outdoor apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment, as well as stylish Sorel brand footwear.

"We are thrilled to showcase our innovative outdoor products to the active Minneapolis Uptown residents," said Tim Boyle, president and chief executive officer, Columbia Sportswear Company. "Minnesota residents and visitors love to hike, bike, ski, fish, hunt, golf or simply enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors, and Columbia offers the outdoor products and technologies they need to enjoy all their activities in comfort, rain or shine."

Grand opening events for the new store will begin Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m. with an evening of live music and prizes, including the company's award-winning Mobex backpack, valued at $100.00, for the first 50 people to enter the store.

Customers will have the opportunity to win $500 gift cards on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Columbia will also tap into the Minneapolis music scene, showcasing local bands in a 'mini music festival' inside the store throughout the weekend. In addition, 10 percent of combined weekend sales from the Uptown store and Columbia's Mall of America store will benefit Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness.

Columbia customers will also have the chance to enter to win an amazing "Greater Outdoors Getaway" for 4 to the Boundary Waters Wilderness. The trip will include luxury villa accommodations at the award-winning River Point Resort, a guided canoe trip on the Boundary Waters, a fuel and food allowance, and a $500 Columbia Gift Card. Customers can enter to win at the new Uptown store on Hennepin Ave. S. or at the Columbia Mall of America store during the weekend of April 9-11, 2010. See stores for official rules and details. No purchase necessary.

Columbia's Uptown Minneapolis store will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
