What: Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis player has been signed on as the brand ambassador of the sports apparel brand Lacoste.

Why: Djokovic’s relaxed elegance and inventiveness are a perfect match for the French brand's DNA and its sports-inspired creations. During the recently concluded 2017 French Open, Djokovic played on the Parisian clay courts, displaying the crocodile on his Lacoste outfits.

The collection: Lacoste has developed an eponymous clothing line for the players to be worn on the court. These outfits have been specially designed to kit out the champion during the Grand Slam tournaments as well as dress him for other tournaments throughout the season. Varying touches of blue, white and red challenge the plain background in order to bring about a relaxed and quintessentially French style. White or black shorts complete the silhouette.

Bytes: "René Lacoste and Novak Djokovic. Two legends who share the same values of fair-play, tenacity and elegance. Today Novak Djokovic becomes the Lacoste style ambassador, not only on but also off the tennis court. His relaxed elegance and inventiveness are a perfect match for the French brand’s DNA and its sports-inspired creations," said Lacoste.

Djokovic tweeted, "Proud to be part of this revolutionary @LACOSTE story, that still lasts till this day. I'm proud to be the new Crocodile."
