The Taiwanese Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu has created a special scarf collection to celebrate the upcoming debut of the international hotel chain St. Regis Hotels and Resorts’ new Turkish venture, The St. Regis Istanbul.

Dubbed as The Grand Tourista Scarf, the line, which is crafted from 100 percent silk twill with hand-rolled edges featuring intricate geometric patterns in vibrant hues, is inspired by the heart of the world’s grand tour, where the East meets West, Istanbul.

Replete with a modern design that perfectly suits the taste of today’s luxury travellers, the scarves are available in three shades- blue (which evokes the images of ceramic tiles that cement the city’s basic design and architecture), soft beige (a neutral tone that stands for the natural spices that fill Istanbul’s bazaars) and Wu’s signature color grey showcasing the sophisticated, timeless aspect of the hotel brand’s rich heritage.

While speaking about the collection, the 32-year-old says, “Istanbul is a city that offers endless inspiration; so I was thrilled to design a scarf collection for St. Regis that – at once -- captures the vibrant energy of the locale and reflects both our brands’ classic yet modern aesthetic.”

“St. Regis Connoisseur Jason Wu says. “As St. Regis continues to usher in a new era of glamour in destinations around the world, The Grand Tourista Scarf is sure to be the perfect accessory for today’s sophisticated traveller,” he adds.

Paul James, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection and W Hotels Worldwide, also spoke about the association with the New York-based designer, “We are delighted to not only introduce The Grand Tourista Scarf, which wonderfully captures the soul of the historic city and the spirit of the new grand tour, but to offer our guests an unparalleled St. Regis experience with the debut of The St. Regis Istanbul early next year.”

The 32-year-old designer Wu is known for designing the dresses of Michelle Obama on several occasions, including during first and second inauguration of American President Barack Obama.

Slated to be opened sometime in February 2015, the 118-room hotel ‘The St. Regis Istanbul’ has been designed by the award-winning Turkish architect Emre Arolat.

The St. Regis Hotels & Resorts operates over 30 luxury hotels and resorts in the best addresses around the world including New York and Bangkok. (PB)
