Talking about the showcase, the home-grown talent, who has recently been nominated for the 2015 Canadian Menswear Designer of the Year Award (CAFA), says, “TOM influences the men’s fashion industry in Canada because it puts the spotlight solely on menswear. Last season TOM set the bar high, but I expect we’ll raise it again together this season.”
In addition to Bates, labels like HD Homme and Joao Paulo Guedes (Emerging Menswear Designer Award (EMDA) winner from the Toronto soiree’s inaugural edition) will also highlight their fashion interpretations for the next season.
Hussein Dhalla, the man behind HD Homme, said in a statement, “Men’s fashion has generally taken the back seat to women’s fashion. With a global platform such as TOM there is a remarkable opportunity for menswear designers to showcase their talent to a wide audience. I am honoured to be a part of the movement again and very excited to showcase my collection.”
Apart from the aforementioned names, labels like Alan Ta, Andrew Coimbra, Benji WZW, Worth by David Wigley, Garrison Bespoke, Kollar, Luca Galardo, Patrick Salonga, Pedram Karimi, Rani Kim and Wild North Apparel will form the event’s extensive line-up. (PB)
