T.J.Maxx, one of the nation's largest off-price retailers operating in 48 states, marks a major milestone in the brand's 35-year history with the opening of its 1,000th store, located in downtown Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, April 25.

At this new location and at T.J.Maxx stores throughout the country, shoppers can find the same designer and brand name items that are currently in department and specialty stores, for 20 to 60 percent less every day—from fashion and accessories for the entire family to home, jewelry, beauty, pet products, toys and more.

Richard Sherr, President of T.J.Maxx, stated, "The opening of the 1,000th T.J.Maxx store is a significant moment for Maxxinistas across the country and we thank them for their loyalty over the past 35 years.

Consumers increasingly expect fantastic designer and brand name fashion at an unbeatable value, and we continue to answer their call. Our newest store in the nation's capital exemplifies quality, fashionable merchandise at unbelievable prices."

Marking the exciting occasion of T.J.Maxx's 1,000th store, opening festivities will take place on Wednesday, April 25th starting at 7:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a $300,000 donation to long-standing charity partner, Save the Children's U.S. Programs. Mark Shriver, the organization's Senior Vice President, will accept the donation.

In addition to providing a new shopping destination in downtown Washington, D.C., for local residents, the new store will add approximately 60 full- and part-time jobs in the local community.

The new store will join all T.J.Maxx stores nationwide in sponsoring a child who participates in Save the Children's U.S. Programs. T.J.Maxx also supports Autism Speaks and Joslin Diabetes Center with annual in-store fundraising campaigns. Additionally, on the day of the grand opening, T.J.Maxx will be making a donation to four local charities: DC Kitchen, The Boys and Girls Club, Rachael's Women's Center and the Urban League of Greater Washington, DC.

T.J.Maxx has helped customers maximize their budgets by offering the same on-trend, in season, first quality merchandise as department and specialty stores, but for much less.
