Clothing gross margin books 1.6% growth at Matalan

Over the past year the Board of Matalan has undergone extensive change. A number of long standing non-executives have stood down, and Lord Harris of Peckham, Bill Shannon, Martin Reavley and Geoff Brady have joined the Board.
Robert Shrager, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, is due to commence his ninth year of service and, in accordance with best governance practice, will not seek re-election at the AGM in July.
Geoff Brady, Non-Executive Deputy Chairman, has now completed his familiarization with the business. Accordingly, Mr Brady has reduced his involvement from two days per week to one day per week and becomes the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director serving on the Board. This completes the transition of the Non-Executive representation on the Board.
John Hargreaves, Chairman, said:"I would like to thank Robert for his support and counsel to the Board over the past nine years, and wish him well for the future."
