Bloomingdales' to add Hobbs shop-in-shops

The American upscale department store chain Bloomingdale’s has recently added one more high-end brand to its long impressive list of sophisticated labels.

The retailer will soon include some five shop-in-shops, about 400 to 1,000 square feet in size, of the famous London-based brand Hobbs in its major east coast locations situated in New York, Boston, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New Jersey.

According to WWD, the new partnership between the two leading brands is a direct result of Hobbs’ surging online sales to the US, which sprung by nearly 50 percent in the current quarter, as compared to last year.

Currently owned by the American multinational holding company Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s was founded in 1861. The retailer specializes in clothing, footwear, bedding and an array of beauty and houseware products.

Favoured by high-profile personalities like the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, Hobbs was launched in 1981 in North London. Other than the UK, the label owns franchise stores in the United Arab Emirates and Sweden.
