DRIFIRE to supply moisture wicking shirts for Recon

DRIFIRE, industry leader in comfortable flame resistant (FR) garments, has partnered with Source One Distributors to support the 2nd Annual Recon Challenge Competition, providing DRIFIRE Comfortable FR Wear shirts that will be co-branded with Source One Distributors as giveaways to participants. The Recon Challenge will take place on May 8, 2010, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and is hosted by the Reconnaissance Training Company, a part of the U.S. Marine Corps. The event gives participating Marines the opportunity to test their physical stamina and technical skills through friendly competition.
"The more we learned about this event, the more excited we were to participate by donating our garments as giveaways to competitors," said Dustin Cohn, Chief Marketing Officer at Optimer Brands, makers of DRIFIRE Comfortable FR Wear. "The Recon Challenge is a test of Marine's endurance and stamina under extremely challenging conditions, and our FR shirts, which feature permanent FR and comfort properties to keep wearers dry, cool, and stink-free, are the perfect gear to ensure that military personnel can stay comfortable, protected, and able to focus on the task at hand."
The Recon Challenge is a 13-hour event, during which competitors cover approximately 25 miles on foot carrying 50-pound packs and rifles, complete a 2 kilometer swim and two iterations of the Marine obstacle course, and participate in a live fire competition that includes M4 rifle, M9 pistol, and M203 grenade launcher courses. In addition to the competition, the attending Marines, family members and friends will enjoy on-site activities including children's entertainment, a barbeque, and an Awards Ceremony.
The DRIFIRE wicking shirts that will be received by competitors will be co-branded with Source One Distributors, a premier provider of protective equipment, support services and solutions for a wide range of clients in the defense industry, national security and law enforcement, among others.
