India’s Odisha state government, which has a textiles policy in place, plans to launch an exclusive policy on handicrafts at its Make in Odisha conclave on November 11-15. The handicrafts sector is one of the six focus sectors in its Industrial Policy Resolution, 2015. A dedicated November 13 session at the conclave will be on apparel and technical textiles.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the industry partner for the investment summit, according to a report in top Indian business daily.

The state government is planning to organise road shows across India ahead of the summit to attract investors. A road show is planned in New Delhi towards the end of August in collaboration with FICCI. Two more road shows are planned in Chennai and Bengaluru in September.

A state delegation led by its industries minister Ananta Das organised road shows in Saudi Arabia, Italy and Germany last month.

Riyadh-based SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals, is reportedly keen to invest ₹50 billion on a petrochemical project in Odisha's coast. (DS)
