Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $8.166 billion during the eleven-month period, showing a decline of 0.4 per cent, as against exports of $8.198 billion during the same period of 2015.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $5.458 billion, up 0.4 per cent over $5.434 billion exports made in the comparable period of 2015.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries fell 5 per cent to $1.746 billion during the period under review from $1.837 billion in the same period of the previous year. However, exports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles, increased by 0.5 per cent year-on-year to $1.589 billion.
On the other hand, imports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles grew 5.7 per cent to $2.165 billion, whereas man-made filament and man-made fibre imports rose 3 per cent and 1.7 per cent, respectively. (RKS)
