Superior Group of Companies (SGC), one of the largest and most admired companies in the uniform industry, has selected Centric’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution. Centric provides enterprise solutions to fashion, retail, footwear, outdoor, luxury, and consumer goods companies to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.

Founded in 1920, SGC is celebrating 100 years in business in 2020. Superior brands, Fashion Seal Healthcare, HPI, and CID Resources, are leaders in their respective areas specialising in innovative uniform programme design, global manufacturing, and state-of-the-art distribution. Every day, more than six million Americans go to work wearing an SGC uniform.

SGC had disparate product development tools in place; spreadsheets, emails, and a legacy PLM that wasn’t able to meet the demands of its rapidly growing business. The desire was to have one system with a central location to speed time-to-market.

“We have a model of shared services, so all of our sourcing, production planning and quality assurance are combined resources that support all of the uniform divisions. We need transparency and to collaborate cross-divisionally to reduce duplication of effort and streamline our process in order to become faster and more nimble,” Lisa Stewart, VP product development and quality assurance at SGC said in a Centric press release.

“After a thorough review of more than ten vendors, SGC selected Centric. Our CID resources division in Texas is a retail business impacted by seasons, but the other two uniform divisions are not, so it’s important for us to have the flexibility to use the system accordingly. We also had several demos throughout the selection process and had some very specific asks related to the costing module. Based on Centric’s expert response and system capability, the choice for us became obvious,” Stewart said.

Centric PLM is expected to streamline the product development process, improve workflow and improve overall efficiency. In addition, SGC plans to integrate with their ERP system to support decision-making with up-to-date data and better visibility.

“It will be great to access all the data live and not have to sort through emails and external charts to find relevant information. We are excited about the calendar and workflow management and to be able to collaborate with vendors. It’s going to make us more efficient and faster, which are really the main goals,” Stewart said.

“We’d like to congratulate SGC on the extraordinary milestone of 100 years as a company and are honoured to welcome such a venerable establishment into the Centric fold. We look forward to a beneficial partnership for many more years to come,” Chris Groves, president and CEO of Centric said.
