Amazon infuses 1,950 cr fresh capital to India operations

Amazon has infused fresh capital of around Rs 1,950 crore into its India operations, Amazon Seller Services, to reinforce its battle against domestic rival Flipkart. As per documents filed with the Indian corporate affairs ministry, Amazon Seller Services has so far received over Rs 8,000 crore ($1.28 billion) during the current fiscal from its US parent.

India has witnessed aggressive investment in expanding infrastructure and solutions to enhance consumer and seller experience by the US company. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has committed investments worth $5 billion for the Indian market, according to a news agency report.

The company has also been investing in its other entities in India, including Amazon Pay and its wholesale business, on building warehouses, strengthening logistics and increasing product assortment. (DS)
