Amazon has decided to open its first warehouse in Australia with a view to establish its retail presence in the country. Spread over an area of 24,000 square metres, the fulfilment centre will be situated in Dandenong South, Melbourne. The e-commerce giant has already announced a German executive as the country manager and will soon start recruiting staff.Amazon had announced its plans to launch its business in Australia in April. Until now, only Amazon Web Services and Kindle business were available in the country.
The fulfilment centre will stock up on hundreds of thousands of products and they will be available for delivery across Australia, said Amazon in a statement.
