GenuOne to partake at online counterfeiting seminar

Provider of brand protection management solutions, GenuOne will participate in a seminar at the Action Sports Retailers (ASR) Trade Expo in San Diego, California.

The seminar is presented by The International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC), eBay and the Action Sports Coalition.

The hour-long seminar entitled, "Infringement on the Internet: Preventing the Sale of Counterfeit Goods on Auction Sites and Websites" will take place on January 20, 2006 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. PT.

GenuOne provides a service called GenuNET, which is a modular, web-based Internet monitoring and reporting system for brand and product protection across retail web sites, auctions, trade boards and within domains.

Through an agreement with eBay, the GenuNET Auctions module extracts and uploads relevant listings, applies specific filters and alerts to quickly identify suspicious listings and track suspect sellers on eBay.

Users can automatically terminate and archive multiple infringing listings at once.

"Counterfeiting is not a new problem in the action sports industry, but the growth of the Internet has made the problem much worse by providing counterfeiters with a global platform to reach billions of buyers," said Alina Halloran, Director, Client Services at GenuOne.

"Counterfeiters are taking advantage of the anonymity on auction sites and the increasing number of online bargain shoppers to sell substandard products to consumers who believe they are getting a good deal on the real thing.
