Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the second edition of Asia's signature fashion event, Centrestage, is all set to begin on September 6. Ahead of the event, a campaign - Hong Kong in Fashion - has begun on August 15 and will end on September 30. The campaign features over 90 public events promoting fashion, trends and creativity.

To spread the fashion buzz to the wider community, the HKTDC has joined hands with more than 100 partners, including the Hong Kong Design Centre, Fashion Farm Foundation, Lan Kwai Fong, fashion design schools, beauty salons, hotels and shopping malls, to present a month-long citywide campaign.

Some of the highlight events include Hong Kong in Fashion Fiesta@D2 Place, Fashion Avenue Fest@Lee Tung Avenue, Centrestage Fashion Street Parade@Lee Tung Avenue, "The City of Fashion" Flash Dance@Harbour City and Centrestage Playground@Hysan Place. This year, Centrestage is also teaming up with the Mira Place and The Mira Hong Kong to present a new incarnation of a stylish afternoon tea at COCO that blends fashion with delightful delicacies. In addition, the HKTDC is organising the Street Snap Competition, where participants can upload chic wear snaps through the competition website or Instagram for a chance to win fabulous prizes worth over HK$100,000.

The new Wan Chai landmark, Lee Tung Avenue, is once again partnering with the HKTDC to organise a weekend carnival titled "Fashion Avenue Fest" during September 2-3, 2017, featuring a series of free fashion and manicure workshops. The Centrestage Fashion Street Parade will also showcase the designs of up-and-coming local brands and fashion design students.

On September 2, a flash mob performance called "The City of Fashion" will take place at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dressed in outfits designed by Hong Kong's up-and-coming designers, dancer and singer Det Dik, along with a group of dancers, will perform near the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier.

The HKTDC and D2 Place have been organising a series of fashion shows and exhibitions since August 15. There will be a joint Fashion Night Out cocktail party and opening ceremony on September 1. On the same night, there will be a fashion show of some 40 designs created by students of the Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC), HKU Space and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The works of the students as well as those of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) will be displayed during September 2-30. The exhibition will showcase the creativity of up-and-coming local designers while promoting Hong Kong fashion. Other public events include a series of workshops, broadcast from key opinion leaders and discount shop offers from mid-August until the end of September.

During September 4-9, the Kai Chiu Road entrance of Hysan Place will be transformed into "Centrestage Playground@Hysan Place," featuring some of the finest photographs of selected homegrown Hong Kong brands. Inspired by the "Old Town Central" campaign of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the fashion shoot took place at some of the most iconic neighbourhoods in Central, highlighting the perfect union of fashion and culture.
