Jacket Required, UK’s only contemporary menswear and streetwear trade exhibition, taking place at London’s Old Truman Brewery on July 24-25, will be launching ‘Discussion Required’, a series of spotlight sessions tackling key issues and developments in garment industry. The show, an ITE Group plc event, is an ideal platform for showcasing new products.

Taking place on Wednesday July 24, visitors will hear from some of industry’s leading brands who re-engineered their products to ‘do less harm’ and embedded these principles before it was ‘cool’ to do so, as well as how to be authentically sustainable, and the power of data from Jacket Required’s data partner Mallzee Insights, said the company in a media statement.

On July 24, from 12 – 12.30, speaker Cally Russell, CEO and co-founder of Mallzee Insights, will talk on the topic ‘If the Customer is King then Data is Queen’. Ahead of Jacket Required SS20, partners Mallzee Insights, have generated over 38,000 customer opinions on products at the show. In this talk Russell will share the insights generated, which products consumers loved, and how consumers preferences on the products vary by location and demography.

From 13– 13.45, Fredrik Ekstrom, creative director of Tretorn; Anabel Dueñas, head of design and production, Lefrik and Adrian Gunn-Wilson, sales and marketing director, Howies; will give a session on ‘Doing business the right way – how brands are successfully doing no harm’, chaired by Graeme Moran, head of content – fashion and features, Drapers. The speakers will discuss how they have put sustainability at the core of their product development and company principles, and the challenges they had to overcome in order to be commercially successful.

From 14.30 – 15.15, speakers Scott Fraser Simpson, founder, Scott Fraser Collection; Toby Davies, founder, Nima and Oliver Powe, business development manager, Favour Up; will speak about ‘Authentically Sustainable: What you should do & know to ensure sustainability’, chaired by Zak Avery of Ethically Woven. Added to the insight of being sustainable in a range of new ways, the speakers will talk about what you need to do and know to ensure you remain true to your values as a brand, but how you communicate that to your customers.
