Mishra announced this during the inauguration of the 'Regional Conclave of MSME' in Dimapur, according to media reports.
The minister said that the conclave will help the ministry evaluate the performance of the implemented scheme and improve interactions between the state governments, associations of the North East region, and the stakeholders, helping the government plan and execute programmes and policies for developing MSME.
Mishra stressed on the importance of MSME and further said that the primary responsibility of promotion and development of MSME is of the state governments and the ministry of MSME and its organisations are to assist the states and encourage entrepreneurship, employment, and livelihood opportunities.
During the ongoing financial year, 29,174 projects have been approved, generating employment of 2,11,601, out of which 5,092 projects of the northeast have been approved, which are expected to create jobs for 20,639 people.
Mishra stated that MSME contributes about 8 per cent to GDP, 44 per cent to the total exports and 45 per cent to the manufacturing output.
Representatives from various northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura participated in the conclave. (HO)
