Marketer of antimicrobials and odour control prevention technologies Microban International said it has won a judgment and damages from Shanghai based Greenchem Fine Chemicals Ltd. Greenchem, which was earlier a distributor of Microban, had been accused of fraudulent trademark use of Aegis Environmental Management Inc, a subsidiary of Microban International.
The court order concluded that Greenchem Fine unlawfully continued to use the Aegis brand in sales and marketing materials, even after Microban terminated its distributor agreement in 2013 and so, ordered Greenchem Fine to immediately discontinue its use of the Aegis trademark registrations, while also issuing a public apology.Marketer of antimicrobials and odour control prevention technologies Microban International said it has won a judgment and damages from Shanghai based Greenchem Fine Chemicals Ltd. According to Microban, Greenchem was able to obtain several fraudulent trademark registrations for the Aegis trademarks in certain Asian countries.
“Aegis comes from only one place and that is Microban and its authorised distributor network,” Lisa Owen, senior business director, global textiles for Microban said. “We could not be more pleased as to how this case was handled in court, and we look forward to putting this market confusion behind us and moving forward with our valued customers and partners.” (AR)
