Reda, an Italian company specialising in production of fine woollen fabrics since 1865, has signed a two-year NZ$ 5 million deal for Zque brand wool with the New Zealand Merino Company.

The manufacturing process at Reda encompasses each stage of transforming Merino fibre from a farm product to final fabric. Reda fabrics form a part of collections of reputed labels like Hugo Boss and Armani.

The contract for Zque Certificate of Authenticity for fibre in the range of 15.5 to 18 micron was signed by Reda's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Francesco Botto Poala, and Gretchen Kane of The New Zealand Merino Company.

A major part of this fibre would be consumed for producing Reda's new Rewoolution collection of performance apparel which is wholly prepared from New Zealand's 17.5 micron fibre.

Since 1997 to till date, Reda has purchased fibre worth over NZ$ 80 million from New Zealand. In addition to this, Reda also operates three Merino stations in New Zealand's South Island. Reda CEO terms this investment as an opportunity to closely associate with the farmers and developing a better insight for rearing best quality fibre for their products.

This partnership with New Zealand, Poala said, has provided Reda with an excellent opportunity to tell the actual tale of Reda, Rewoolution and New Zealand. He said that Reda has a zeal for excellent wool and the same can be seen among the cultivators in New Zealand.

Being delighted for having inked a mutually beneficial deal, Poala added that a basic ingredient of Reda's purchasing policy is to boost the quantity of the fibre that it procures from New Zealand.

The deal between Reda and New Zealand Merino would help Reda procure Zque branded merino wool fibre, which is known for quality, along with traceability and accreditation for best farm practices. These attributes are in accordance with the current market trends and thus it is essential to be associated with Zque, Poala added.
