New season survey indicates rise in cotton acreage

A recent survey of planting intention among 2,579 cotton farmers in 13 primary cotton planting provinces (autonomous regions) by China Cotton Association shows that cotton acreage has increased.
Cotton sowing area is expected to be 80.96 million Mu (one hectare equals 15 Chinese Mu); up 5.1 percent from last year.
Industry people say that China's cotton production is expected to approach or reach 7 million tons, if China's cotton growing conditions stay normal this year.
The current state of tight cotton supply and demand faced by textile production will be significantly eased by then.
