China's spot market of caprolactam (CPL) imports was strong on July 6, as cargo holders gave strong offers owing to reduced supply in the market.
Sellers quoted a price of around US$ 3,400/ton (CFR China main port L/C 90 days), as against this a few buyers quoted a price of US$ 3,350-3,360/ton. Negotiations centred on a price of US$ 3,380-3,400/ton, but no actual trading took place.
Spot market of CPL in terms of RMB was flat, market supply was tight and cargo holders quoted a price of about 27,800-28,000 Yuan/ton. However, downstream buying was poor with isolated bids for about 27,500 Yuan/ton, resulting in actually negotiated price of about 27,600-27,800 Yuan/ton. Overall, however, actual trading was light as suppliers were slightly reluctant to sell at low price and the general trading atmosphere was subdued.
