Chinese polyester industrial yarn dominates global output

China's polyester industrial yarn industry emerged in the 1980s and in the intervening years, has gone through the initial phase, the development and adjustment period.

China has become the world's leading production base of polyester industrial yarn, thus promoting technological innovation and expanding application of polyester industrial yarn.

Its production has increased from several thousand tons in the 80s to 1.065 million tons in 2010 and accounts for more than 50 percent of world's total production capacity.

China's rapid expansion of polyester industrial yarn has promoted swift development of the world's polyester industrial yarn.

It is expected that fibre processing volume too will steadily increase.

By 2015, processing volume of industrial textiles fibre will reach around 13.8 million tons, at an annualized growth rate of more than 10 percent.

The proportion of industrial textile fibre processing is expected to increase to 25 percent in overall fibre processing in the textile industry.

The consumption of high-performance fibre is also anticipated to reach 100,000 tons.
