Mr Sharma assures full support to textile industry

In his first ever interaction with the textile industry stakeholders, the incumbent Union Minister of Textiles Mr Anand Sharma stated that, cotton exports situation will be reviewed later in a Ministerial meeting.
Sources informed Fibre2fashion.com that, Mr Sharma adopted a very positive and a considerate stance while going through the industry briefing by various captains of the textile industry.
The Minister said that they will prepare a model 'Cotton Development Act' to be introduced in the Parliament to ensure better development and sustainability within the sector as well as to improve statistical data collection.
During their presentation to Mr Sharma, representatives of the powerloom sector sought equal treatment at par with the handloom sector.
