China exported textiles and clothing worth US$ 1.82 billion to ten ASEAN countries in May, showing a year-on-year increase of 36.5 percent, according to customs statistics.
The exports of yarns and fabrics stood at US$ 1.03 billion, registering a 44.2 percent year-on-year increase. However, the growth rate was less than that achieved during the month of April.
During the month of May, China exported 2.8 million tons of yarn to the ASEAN countries, with a 4.8 percent year-on-year rise. The pace of growth, however, has significantly reduced and the growth rate has decreased by 14 percent compared to April. The average unit price of exports saw a rise of 38 percent.
For the first five months of 2011, China's textiles and apparel exports to the ASEAN totaled US$ 7.55 billion, up 42.5 percent year-on-year. Of these, exports of textiles amounted to US$ 4.46 billion, an increase of 60 percent year-on-year.
