China's yarn production up, prices decline

China's yarn production has increased to 2.606 million tons in June, which is 308,000 tons more than the yarn output in June 2010, i.e. a year-on-year rise of 13.4 percent, as per the figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The total yarn production during the first six months of the current year reached 13.414 million tons, showing an increase of 11.2 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year.

Similarly, the total yarn output during the first ten-month period of Chinese 2010 cotton year (September 2010-August 2011) rose to 23.398 million tons, which is an increase of 10.7 on a year-on-year basis.

The average price of 32 cotton carded yarn in June 2011 decreased by 2540 Yuan/ton to 31,253 Yuan/ton, i.e. a decline of 7.5 percent from May 2011. During the month, the average price of polyester staple fibre also declined by 1.3 percent or 164 Yuan/ton to 12,823 Yuan/ton.
