Mr. Hisroshi OE, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan discussed the progress of Pakistan Textile City project with Mr. Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Federal Minister for Textile Industry.
The Federal Minister explained that the aim of the Textile City project was to attract maximum foreign direct investment in the textile industry so as to facilitate its growth. He said that work is in progress to provide all state-of-the-art facilities and amenities including wide roads, effluent treatment plants, continuous gas and water supply, as well as hospitals and schools, within the premises of the Textile City.
The Japanese Ambassador said he saw a huge potential in the Textile City. He assured the Minister that he would persuade entrepreneurs from his country to invest in the international standard zone for textile industry. He sought permission to visit the site of the Textile City.
Pakistan Textile City is being set up as a separate industrial zone for textile industry on 1,250 acres of land near port Qasim. Over 277 new manufacturing units are expected to be established to boost exports of value-added textiles.
