Japan's ethylene production for the month of July dropped by 4.7 percent as against corresponding period last year, as per the data of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The drop in production is in spite of the fact that no maintenance shutdowns have occurred during the month, where as there were two plants which were closed down for maintenance last year.
Ethylene production during July 2011 was 566,000 tons, as against production of 593,800 tons achieved in July 2010. However, it was eight percent higher than production of 524,000 tons attained during the month of June, which also saw shutdown of two plants for maintenance.
While export volume figures for June have not been released yet, during the month of May, ethylene exports registering a fall of 17.4 percent dropped to 142,100 tons, as against same period last year. In April too, export volumes dropped by 11.4 percent to 152,500 tons.
