Clariant International, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has signed an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement to distribute eco-friendly fire retardant chemicals for textile sector manufactured by Green Chemicals, the UK-based developer of environment-friendly chemical solutions.
The patented flame retardant chemical is wash-durable and eco-friendly for cellulose-rich fabrics. It does not contain either formaldehyde or halogens. Also, it does not require an ammonia curing step.
Considered a technological breakthrough in its field, the product can be used in a broad range of purposes like home furnishings and industrial work-wear, where as per the European standards, fabrics have to be both wash-durable and flame retardant.
As per the agreement, Green chemicals will receive a royalty on all sales of fire retardants for textiles developed and patented by it.
Switzerland-based Clariant has been supplying chemicals used in various stages of leather and textile sector manufacturing like pre-treatment, dyeing, printing and finishing.
