China's cotton imports continued to fall in price but rose in volume in July.
China imported 157,000 tons of cotton in July 2011, an increase of 37,000 tons, or 31 percent compared with June, but down 7 percent from the same period last year.
The average import price stood at US $3,110 / ton, down US $51 or 1.6 percent compared with June, according to customs statistics.
In the first seven months of 2011, China's total cotton imports registered 1.48 million tons, down 13.4 percent year on year.
In the first 11 months of cotton year 2010-11, China's total cotton imports completed 2.37 million tons, reflecting an increase of 4.6 percent year on year.
