KPR Mills to set up compact yarn plant

KPR Mills, one of the biggest vertically integrated apparel manufacturing companies is setting up a greenfield project to produce compact yarns.

The new plant which will have 25,000 spindles will be set up at a cost of Rs 5.5 billion and is expected to begin production by October 2010.

Once this capacity is operational, the total spindleage at KPR Mills will touch 353,088 spindles, to be considered among the largest yarn producers in India.

In an exclusive interview given to fibre2fashion earlier in January, Mr P Nataraj, Managing Director, KPR Mills Ltd., had informed about their expansion plans including setting up the compact yarn plant.

KPR Mills achieved sales of Rs 11.09 billion in fiscal 2010-11, up 33 percent from the previous fiscal year. In the same period exports of clothing reached Rs 3 billion, a rise of 28.1 percent year-on year.
