Buyers for China were dominant with strong buying support from Europe, India and Taiwan. Sales will be held in Sydney and Melbourne next week, when 39,119 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 09 and 10) are 43,962 and 43,200 bales, respectively; an increase of 14.2% over the three sale period when compared with last year.
The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 2,500 bales in its first sale of the season in Week 10. In the opening South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was down by 5.4% since last sale of the 2010/11 season against a 5.6% depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 3.8% depreciation against the Euro. 13,026 bales were on offer.
