With over 70 percent of exhibition space already booked seven months before the show opens on March 27, 2012, Domotex asia Chinafloor anticipates another record setting event. The show has expanded to 11 halls to make way for 1,100 exhibitors.

Growth is particularly spectacular in the carpet segment, says Jerome Lizambard, international director at VNU Exhibitions Asia, the show's organizer. The expansion in carpet exhibition space results from both an increase in booth size by most traditional exhibitors such as Balta or Sharda Carpets and the addition of several new manufacturers of hand and machine-made carpet from Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India, Lizambard explained.

The carpet segment is expected to grow by 18%, with numerous new carpet exhibitors from Turkey or Pakistan and Chinese manufacturers poised to present products with improved quality and designs.

“The increased participation by manufacturers reflects perfectly the growing demand for carpet in Asia. Products such as carpet tiles are in high-demand now for the local contract market. High quality area rugs are also getting more attention than before in China, because of the rise of living standards” he adds.

The growth of the carpet market in China is due to construction of new commercial buildings and the expanding high-end real estate market. Over 1.8 billion square meters of flooring is needed annually to meet this growth. “China's hospitality segment is one example that is driving increased demand for high end commercial carpets,” explains Lizambard. “China had 1,192 hotels representing 327,459 rooms under construction in 2010; the highest figure ever recorded.” Imports of carpet from all over the world reached over 102 million in US dollars in 2009, according to Chinese customs.

“Asia offers a great future for the flooring industry and untold business opportunities and it is happening now. Looking at the flooring industry perspectives in China, and encouraged by the impressive trust the industry is having in DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, we feel committed to deliver the high quality platform the industry needs to conduct business in this blooming economic environment” concludes Mr. Lizambard.

DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR encompassing totally 11 halls (126,500 Sqm gross) of Shanghai New International Expo Center, is the second largest floor covering trade fair in the world after DOMOTEX HANNOVER and the largest floor covering event in Asia-Pacific. It covers the entire flooring industry supply chain and its major application fields, injecting powerful new innovations into this rapidly changing industry. This renowned event facilitates world class networking and trading activities for the global flooring sourcing communities in the heart of world's largest and fastest growing floor covering market centered around Shanghai, China.

Catering for 1060 exhibiting companies and nearly 40,000 industry buyers and professionals in 2011, the most exciting and cutting-edge flooring event will be held March 27-29, 2012 at Shanghai New Exhibition Centre (SNIEC), China.
