Increased demand in cotton market

An increased demand was registered on the Bremen cotton market during the past week following a considerable rise of the prices quoted in New York and Liverpool. Enquiries mainly aimed for delivery at near dates up to the 4th quarter 2011. Several contracts were closed.

In the medium staple range cotton was traded from West-Africa for prompt up to the 4th quarter 2011 as well as the 2nd quarter 2012. Descriptions from Brazil, Argentina and Central Asia were sold for prompt up to the 4th quarter 2011. Cotton from Greece and Spain will be delivered in the 4th quarter 2011 as well as in the 1st and 2nd quarter 2012.

Prompt need for ELS-cotton was satisfied by Egyptian Giza 86 and 88. Israel Pima and Israel Acalpi were sold for the 4th quarter 2011.
