Global competition of PTA is now focused on Asian market, while Asian competition of PTA market share is centered on China.

China's PTA industry grew rapidly from 2001 to 2006. In 2006, Chinese PTA output stood at just 9.45 million tons. After listing of PTA futures, the industry gradually graduated to a period of mature development.

By the end of 2010, China's PTA production capacity reached 15.58 million tons. In the process, Chinese PTA production capacity has surpassed South Korea and the United States, becoming the world's largest PTA producer.

As of the end of 2010, PTA production capacity in Asia accounted for 83 percent of global capacity, while China's production capacity accounted for more than 30 percent of Asian capacity, and this percentage will expand further.
