For the first time in two months, Japanese ethylene production rose marginally in August 2011.
August ethylene output increased marginally to 612,400 tons, up 1.9 percent year on year and also up 8.2 percent from its previous month.
But the average operating rate at ethylene production facilities fell 1.9 percent to 90.2 percent.
However, production registered a rise as the plants which undertook a maintenance turnaround were smaller in size than those which underwent maintenance in the same month of 2010.
