RmKV, a leading producer and retailer of silk saris, has unveiled its collection of 'Jadau' silk saris in Coimbatore.

In making the new range, the company has used 'inlay technique', normally used by traditional artists like goldsmith and sculptors in their work. The company said it is planning to patent this technique for sari making, as the use of this technique in itself is a technological leap forward in silk weaving.

RmKV Managing Partner, Mr. Rm. K Sivakumar informed that in addition to a whole series of experiments undertaken to evolve the winning product, the new product is the result of two years of joint efforts of the RmKV team and the design studio.

Mr. Sivakumar informed that the Jadau saris were weaved by finest of the weavers who used commissioned looms for the purpose. The 'inlay technique' necessitated several alterations in the process technique, loom structure and product development, he added.

While using this technique, Mr. Sivakumar said that a weaver could produce inlay motifs in several colours with a radiant shine and smooth feel fabric, with just a single shuttle insertion.

Speaking about the benefits of the inlay technique used for Jadau silk sari weaving, he said the technique not only makes the whole process of weaving less cumbersome, but also reduces the time taken for weaving.

RmKV is reputed for its wedding silks, unique silk saris, as well as family apparel, with large showrooms in Chennai, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore.
