Crossbreds continued their good run. Their average AWEX MPGs were all up for the week and since the start of the season. Oddments also got away to a good start in Newcastle on Tuesday and moved up in all three centres during the week. The 2.6% lift in the average Merino Cardings Price Guide was the largest increase for the week.

Buyers for China were dominant with strong buying from Italy at the Newcastle sale. There was also good support from buyers for other parts of Europe, India and Taiwan.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 52,514 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 13 and 14) are 42,936 and 47,800 bales, respectively; an increase of 17.1% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 1,900 bales in Melbourne next week and 3,000 bales in Week 14.

In South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 1.5% since last week against a 3.6% depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 0.6% depreciation against the Euro. 5,050 bales were on offer.
