Union Ministry of Textiles has sought an increase in plan outlay under all its planned schemes during the 12th Five-Year Plan.

The Ministry has urged the Planning Commission to allocate a fund of Rs. 350 billion, according to Rita Menon, Union Textile Secretary.

She said the Ministry has already been sanctioned a fund of Rs. 220 billion during the current Plan period, as against the original plan outlay of Rs. 140 billion.

During fiscal 2011-12, Rs. 19.72 billion has been granted for Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS), which is being promoted by the Ministry by organizing roadshows.

It is likely that the TUFS may be continued even during the 12th Plan period.
