As of date, the spinning capacity of China's cotton textile industry has exceeded 50 percent of total global capacity, which has made this status unshakeable. China has 120 millions of ring spindles, 2.32 millions of spinning rotors and 1.26 millions looms.
China produced 27.17 million tons of yarn and 80 billion meters of cloth in 2010, according to National Bureau of Statistics.
As of the end of 2010, China had 12,000 cotton textile enterprises, the main business income, gross profit and gross industrial output value of these companies accounted for about 27 percent of national textile industry.
Among the 12,000 cotton textile enterprises, the top 100 enterprises made up for about 30 percent of the total textile industry in 2010. These companies have their own brands, core competencies, bargaining ability, and generally higher recognition in both domestic and international markets
Overall operation of China's cotton textile market was good in the first quarter of 2011, but cotton textile market continued to be weak from mid-March, subject to market changes and other multiple factors, such as the decline of international and domestic cotton prices, which gradually stabilized by the end of August.
