The government of Jammu and Kashmir is seriously considering the revival of the woollen industry in the State, for which it is evaluating various project reports submitted by different agencies.
This was disclosed at a meeting held to review the functioning of Bemina Woollen Mills and to probe into the possibilities for up-gradation of the mill's machinery.
While the Central Government granted approval for execution of an integrated project for Handloom Development Corporation involving a cost of Rs. 103.6 million, the State government set aside a sum of Rs. 25 million to be spent during the current fiscal 2011-12 on revitalization of the government-run Bemina Woollen Mills.
