Exports of cotton fabric from Pakistan have witnessed a rise during the initial two months of the current Pakistani fiscal year.
With a 12.64 percent year-on-year rise, the country exported around 317.56 million square metres of cotton cloth worth US$ 395.3 million during July-August 2011, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). During the corresponding period of last year, Pakistan exported 312.1 million square meters of cotton cloth worth US$ 351 million.
During July-August 2011, towel exports grew by 6.6 percent with exports of 28,769 metric tons of towels costing around US$ 126 million. The country shipped 29,794 metric tons of towels worth US$ 118 million during the corresponding period of 2010.
Surpassing all other commodities, country's raw cotton exports grew at a whooping year-on-year rate of 841.52 percent, during the period under review.
However, exports of cotton yarn declined by 7.64 percent during the same period.
