Average price of textile & garment exports on a rise

A rise in the average price of textile and garment exports from China has been witnessed during the initial eight months of the current year.

The average price of textile and garment exports from China surged by 24.7 percent during July 2011, as compared to July 2010. However, there was an increase of 0.9 percent in the sale of these goods in overseas markets, the Customs data revealed.

The average price of overall exports from China went up during the review period along with a sluggish growth in quantity of exports. The average price grew by 10.3 percent during January-August 2011 over the average price of corresponding period last year, up 9.1 percent year-on-year.

China's foreign trade with economies like Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members gained momentum.

ASEAN region was China's third most leading trading partner with a 26.6 percent rise in their mutual trade with China which grew to US$ 234.61 billion.

During August, the country's exports increased at a year-on-year rate of 24.5 percent to US$ 173.31 billion, the General Administration of Customs statistics revealed.

Exports for the initial eight months of the current year rising at a rate of 23.6 percent climbed to US$ 1.22 trillion, while the imports grew at a rate of 27.5 percent to US$ 1.13 trillion.
