J&K to organize national-level handloom fairs

The Jammu and Kashmir State government would organize national-level handloom fairs and buyer-seller meets to provide the handloom artisans in the State with enhanced marketing channels to sell their goods.
Inaugurating the 56th Industrial and Handicrafts Exhibition at Kashmir Haat, Industries Minister SS Slathia said the State government has urged the Centre for extension of the present Industrial Policy, which is due for expiry next year, as its benefits have not been fully availed so far.
The Minister added that many industrialists have pleaded for further extension of the Centre's incentives policy for some more years beyond 2012, so as to boost industrial growth in the State.
